We believe if you work full-time, and do your job well, then you shouldn’t live in poverty.  It’s that simple.

All of us deserve the opportunity to at least live a middle class life and provide a secure living for our families.  We believe enough is enough, and things need to change. It’s time to rebuild an economy that works for us all!

Raise Michigan has launched a ballot campaign to let the people of Michigan raise the minimum wage.

The proposal would:

  • Raise the minimum wage from $7.40 to $10.10 an hour by January of 2017.
  • Ensure the minimum wage keeps up with the cost of living, based on the Consumer Price Index.
  • Guarantee that (eventually) tipped workers, like waiters and waitresses, earn the full minimum wage.  They are currently paid only $2.65 an hour and would receive a $.85 an hour increase each year until tipped workers are paid the full minimum wage.

Help the Kent Dems help Raise Michigan!  We need volunteers to gather signatures to put the minimum wage question on the ballot.  Please contact Gussie Farris at 616-949-8387 or gussieinc@comcast.net.
