Within the last few weeks, The Press has featured guest commentaries from Congressmen Justin Amash and Bill Huizenga about the debt ceiling compromise bill. Their comments have offered convincing proof that neither should be representing the Grand Rapids area.
More specifically, Huizenga compares the United States Government to families and businesses and says that the government, like those entities, must live within its means. Amash suggests a balanced budget amendment for similar reasons.
If your family or business coined money, maintained the largest military organization in the world and was responsible for the safety and health of over 300 million people, among other things, then perhaps the comparison might be valid. Obviously, it is not.
